(1) Lithium bromide solution is a colorless slightly salty liquid, non-toxic. After adding lithium chromate, the solution turned pale yellow. (2) The solubility of lithium bromide in water decreases with decreasing temperature. The mass concentration of lithium bromide should not exceed 66%, otherwise crystallization will occur when the solution temperature drops during operation, which will damage the normal operation of the refrigerator. Lithium bromide solution is highly hygroscopic. Lithium bromide aqueous solution has the ability to absorb water vapor whose temperature is lower than it, which is one of the mechanisms of lithium bromide absorption refrigerator. If the pressure is the same, the saturation temperature of the solution must be greater than the saturation temperature of water, and the water vapor generated in the solution is always in a superheated state. (4) The density is greater than that of water, which varies with the concentration and temperature of the solution. (5) The specific heat capacity is small. When the temperature is 150°C and the concentration is 55%, its specific heat capacity is about 2kJ/(kg•K). The heat added to the solution in the process is relatively small, and the latent heat of evaporation of water is relatively large. The device has a high thermal coefficient. (6) The viscosity is relatively large. (7) The surface tension is relatively large. (8) The thermal conductivity of lithium bromide aqueous solution decreases with the increase of concentration and increases with the increase of temperature. (9) It is strongly corrosive to ferrous metals, copper and other materials, and it is more serious when there is air. The non-condensable gas produced by corrosion has a great influence on the refrigeration capacity of the equipment. The main characteristics of the lithium bromide aqueous solution absorption refrigeration system are: low thermal efficiency, large cooling water consumption, high requirements for equipment sealing, and certain corrosiveness.
