Portasibromidepowder
Potassium bromide is a white crystalline powder. It is easily soluble in water. Potassium bromide has a sweet taste in dilute aqueous solution, a bitter taste at higher concentrations, and a salty taste at higher concentrations. These effects are mainly due to the properties of potassium ions - sodium bromide has a salty taste at any concentration. In high concentrations, potassium bromide strongly irritates the gastric mucosa, causing nausea and sometimes vomiting (typical effect of all soluble potassium salts).

Potassium bromide (KBr) is a salt widely used as an anticonvulsant and sedative. Its action is due to the bromide ion (sodium bromide is equally effective). Potassium bromide is used in veterinary medicine as an antiepileptic drug in dogs.
