Petroleum refining and marketing (R&M) is the second link in Reliance's drive to drive growth and global leadership in the core energy and materials value chain.

The Jamnagar manufacturing sector is the largest refining center in the world. The entire refinery was built in record time at a globally competitive capital cost - in fact, at a cost far lower than comparable refineries worldwide. Its size, design, flexibility, level of automation and level of integration dictate how future refineries will be built. The rapid development of the complex is at the heart of India's transformation. It transformed India from a net importer of petroleum products to a net exporter, thus ensuring the country's energy security.

With a crude processing capacity of 1.24 million barrels per day (BPSD), the Jamnagar Refinery is a trendsetter and has won several awards, including the prestigious "International Refiner of the Year" award. It also houses some of the largest units in the world, such as fluid catalytic cracking units (FCC), coking units, alkylation units, para-xylene, polypropylene, refinery off-gas (ROG) crackers and petroleum coke gasification units.

Fuel from the Jamnagar refinery is exported to many countries around the world. This complex refinery is ready for the future and can produce any grade of gasoline and diesel. Reliance also owns another refinery, the sixth largest in the world, in the special economic zone of Jamnagar. The refinery has a crude oil processing capacity of 580,000 barrels per day.
