Bacardi Carta Blanca Rum 70cl

Bacardi Premium Rum originated in 1862 and was invented by Don Facundo. It is Bacardi's first rum and is currently the most popular rum in the world. When the distillery first opened, a colony of fruit bats was spotted in the rafters, and it's graced every bottle of Bacardi rum since then. It is a white rum that is at the center of many of the cocktails we know and love today, such as the original mojito and daiquiris.

Bacardi Superior rum became popular because the only rums available were strong and not aimed at the gentlemen of the day. To make his premium rums, Don Facundo had to source the highest quality ingredients, including a unique strain of yeast he found in sugarcane fields outside Santiago de Cuba. Known as "LA Levadura Bacardi," this proprietary yeast strain is still used today to deliver the unique flavor profile found in Bacardi rums.

Don Facundo also distills two different spirits to create his light and balanced rum. Aguardiente was the first, a delicate rum with a distinctive flavor and aroma that provided the backbone for Bacardi, and the second was a spirit called redestilado, which he distilled several times to produce a lighter, More delicate spirits.

He also added charcoal alcoholates to the rum and purposefully aged it. These are techniques passed down through the Bacardi family and are still used today.
