About the material:
Weathering Steel, known by the trademark COR-TEN Steel, sometimes written without the hyphen as "Weathering Steel", is a group of steel alloys developed to eliminate the need for painting and to develop a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to weather in years.
"Weatherability" refers to the chemical composition of these steels, which enables them to exhibit higher resistance to atmospheric corrosion than other steels. This is because steel forms a protective layer on its surface under the influence of the weather.
The corrosion inhibition effect of the protective layer is produced by the specific distribution and concentration of alloying elements therein. The layer that protects the surface continuously develops and regenerates when exposed to the weather. In other words, the steel is allowed to rust to form a "protective" coating.

Weathering steel is widely used in outdoor accessories such as weathering steel screens, gates, planters, sculptures, structural wall panels for its rustic, antique look.
