Q: Is it an "additive"? How is it different from what I'm using now?
A: No, additives will remain in the oil during the oil filtering process. Kchoring is a filter medium. Kchoring is activated and it acts like a magnet to attract and remove dissolved tastes and odors that can spoil fried food. It removes these impurities during the daily filtering process and keeps frying oil fresh and clear.

Q: How many days of oil life can I expect? How much Kchoring do I use?
A: The lifespan of oil varies with fried food sales, product mix, and frying station management practices. New users of Kchoring can experience at least 30% - 50% longer oil life. Typically 4.8 oz of Kchoring is required to treat 50 lbs of oil. See side of carton for other volumes.

Q: Do I need a filter? How long do I filter oil?
A: Yes, you do need a filter machine. You cannot use filter cones or filter bags. Recirculation through built-in or portable filters for 5 to 10 minutes (per fryer) is necessary for maximum efficiency.

Q: Does Kchoring work with any type of oil?
Answer: Yes. Oil degradation is common to all edible frying oils and Kchoring works on all types of oils, including the new zero trans fat oils.

Q: At what temperature should I filter the oil?
A: Kchoring works best when the oil is strained at cooking temperatures (typically 285°F - 360°F).

A: The decision should be based on finished food quality standards and sensory evaluation. The color, taste, flavour, appearance and texture of the food should be the final deciding factor. If the oil is very dark, smoking, foaming, or smells bad, it's time for an oil change.

Q: Should I put the Kchoring in the oil or in a colander?
A: Kchoring works equally well when sprinkled on filter paper in a colander or directly into the oil. It will form a "filter cake" on the screen or filter paper.

Q: Kchoring reduces Free Fatty Acids (FFA) and Total Polar Matter (TPM). What does it mean?
A: FFAs are molecules that lower the surface tension of oils, allowing batters and crumbs to absorb more oil. The result is greasy fried food.
