Bentonite is an absorbent aluminum phyllosilicate, basically an impure clay, consisting mainly of montmorillonite. The chemical composition of montmorillonite is (Al2, Mg3) Si4O10OH2 nH2O, and there are different types of bentonite, each of which is named after its own dominant element, such as sodium (Na), calcium (Ca), etc.
Sodium Bentonite:
1. In oil and gas based drilling, bentonite can effectively protect the wellbore, make cuttings upward, cool and lubricate the drill bit, etc.
2. In the mechanical casting industry, bentonite helps to avoid the phenomenon of "sand peeling" of castings, improve the accuracy, smoothness and yield of castings, and make castings process performance better.
3. In the paper industry, it is used as paper filler to enhance the brightness of paper.
4. In textile dye liquor, it can be used as antistatic coating, starch sizing and printing coating.
Calcium bentonite:
