Product Description
asphaltIt is an oil-based substance. It is a semi-solid hydrocarbon product produced by removing lighter fractions such as liquefied petroleum gas, gasoline, and diesel from heavy crude oil during the refining process. Therefore, it is rightly called refined bitumen. In North America, bitumen is often referred to as "asphalt cement" or "bitumen". Elsewhere, "asphalt" refers to a mixture of small stones, sand, filler, and asphalt used as a road paving material. Asphalt mix M contains approximately 5% asphalt. Bitumen is a stable semi-solid substance at ambient temperature.
The vast majority of refined bitumen is used in construction: mainly as an ingredient in products for paving and roofing applications. Produce asphalt to specifications as required by the end use. This is achieved through a refining process or blending.
It is estimated that the current world use of bitumen is about 102 million tons per year. About 85% of the bitumen produced is used as a binder for road bitumen. It is also used in other paved areas such as airport runways, parking lots and sidewalks.
