The principle of high purity tungsten powder:
Tungsten is the most refractory metal with a melting point of 3380°C. It is used as an additive because tungsten is easily oxidized. When oxygen passes through at 650°C, tungsten starts to oxidize and releases a lot of heat. It has the characteristics of high calorific value and fast reaction speed.
Tungsten should be called an additive, not a flux, because the role of the additive is not only a flux, but also multiple functions such as heating, adjusting the pH of the medium, stirring, catalysis, stable combustion, and anti-interference.
For non-magnetic materials, pure iron should be added.
Tungsten trioxide sublimes significantly above 900°C. Due to the escape of tungsten trioxide, the diffusion rate of carbon and sulfur is increased, so that the carbon and sulfur in the sample are fully oxidized. After the volatilized tungsten trioxide leaves the molten pool, it turns into a solid phase at 700-800°C, covering the remaining Fe2O3 in the pipeline to prevent the pipeline from absorbing sulfur.The blank value of tungsten is very low, which can be used for the determination of low carbon and low sulfur. Generally, a combination of tungsten and tin is used as an additive. The main function of tin is to enhance the flux and reduce the impact of insufficient tungsten flux effect.
