Product application
Steel sheet piles have a wide range of applications, as follows:
(1) Riverbank protection and flood control. Steel sheet piles are usually used for river bank protection, ship locks, ship lock structures and flood control. Their advantages are convenient water construction and long service life.
(2) Ports and docks. Steel sheet piles are a very convenient material in dock construction. It can meet the requirements of fast and economical terminal construction. It also has good mechanical properties and can withstand large vertical loads and lateral bending moments.
(3) Water collection station. Sheet piles have been used in the past as temporary supports for pump stations, but can also be used on permanent structures, significantly reducing construction time and costs. Pumping stations mostly use rectangular structures, but judging from the existing open structures, circular shapes will be the future development trend.
(4) Pier. When the pile foundation is under load or construction speed is required, it is most economical to use steel sheet piles. It can serve as both a foundation and a pier, and can be operated in one direction, taking up very little time and space.
(5) Road widening retaining wall. The key to road widening construction is the amount of land and construction speed, especially when borrowing other lanes. Steel sheet piles can meet the above requirements without excavation and soil removal.
(6) Basement. Steel sheet piles are great for building basement walls because they take up so little space. This characteristic of steel sheet piles can be fully utilized in both temporary and permanent engineering structures, which can greatly reduce costs. In addition, steel sheet piles can also bear the vertical load of the superstructure.
(7) Underground garage. Steel sheet piles have become a particularly effective material for constructing underground garages. They can be firmly inserted into the ground close to the boundary and the thickness of their own walls is thin, which means maximum space in the car park and minimum cost.
(8) Isolation facilities. Sealed steel sheet piles are a very effective soil isolation material. There are some special sealants that can be used to prevent leaks under certain conditions.
(9) Load-bearing foundation. As an ideal load-bearing foundation structure, steel sheet piles can be combined with special corner piles to form a small-diameter closed structure. As steel sheet piles are increasingly used as support systems for highway sign towers, the concept is also being applied to foundation piles for bridges.
(10) Temporary projects. Steel sheet piles are the first choice for projects that require supporting excavations. In the temporary project, the basic characteristics of high strength and convenient construction of steel sheet piles were fully utilized. At the same time, steel sheet piles can be pulled out and reused after use, making them the best choice for design. ;It is worth noting that designing temporary structures into permanent structures can significantly reduce costs.
