Characteristics and Application of Low Density Polyethylene
LDPE molecular chains can be divided into long-chain and short-chain branches, with low crystallinity and a molecular weight of 50,000 to 500,000. It is a milky white translucent waxy solid resin, non-toxic, low softening point, good flexibility, and good impact toughness. The low temperature resistance is very good, it can work at -60~-80 degrees, and the electrical insulation is excellent. LDPE has poor mechanical strength, low heat resistance, poor environmental stress cracking resistance, adhesion and printing suitability, and its performance can be improved through surface treatment. LDPE has extremely low water absorption, almost no water absorption, excellent chemical stability, and is stable to acids, alkalis, salts, and organic solvents. High permeability to carbon dioxide and organic odors, but poor permeability to water vapor and air. Easy to burn, with the smell of burning paraffin, easy to age, degrade and change color under the action of sunlight and heat.
LDPE is suitable for thermoplastic molding processing of various molding processes, such as injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, rotational molding, coating, foaming process, thermoforming, heat sealing welding, heat welding, etc.
LDPE is mainly used for film products, such as agricultural film, ground cover film, agricultural film, vegetable greenhouse film, etc.; candy, vegetable, frozen food packaging and other packaging films; liquid packaging such as blown film; heavy packaging bags, shrink packaging bags, general industry Packaging film, food bag, etc., can also be used for injection molding products; extruding pipes, wires and cables; blowing out hollow containers.
