Set up in 1967 in Sicily as a small family runned laboratory, the company nowadays is a global brand in the coffee roasting and distributing sector. Thanks to the great obstinacy of founder Giovanni Spadola, that was passed on to his children Alessandro and Annalisa, who are now leading the company, whose aim was to produce top products in the best possible way, Caffe Moak is by now present in more than 50 countries, including international distribution offices (in New York, Germany, Malta, and Greece). Success has been achieved thanks to the modernization process the company started with regard to both production and management. The headquarters consist of an architectural complex measuring 10,000 sq m. Boasting spacious glazed areas and being entirely covered with a photovoltaic system, this business district was designed in respect of the environment and quality of life. From 1967 to the present day, Moak has been going through an evolutionary and organizational process also with regards to its corporate structure: it started as sole proprietorship, became a limited company in 2004 and acquired new spin offs in 2013, becoming a Holding. Besides the innovation and organization process, Moak also renewed its Corporate Identity in 2008, entrusting the great Dutch designer Bob Noorda with the restyling of the brand. Since its beginnings, Caffe Moak has been using the single roasting system. That means that every coffee varietal is roasted individually, so to allow each kind of seed to reach the ideal roast level for the different blends to be obtained. On one hand, this process respects the organoleptic features of every single coffee species, and on the other hand offers clients an unvaried top quality product. Furthermore, Moak is one of the few roasting companies with an in-house chemical laboratory (Mlab). Thanks to highly sophisticated equipment, daily checks are carried out on incoming and outgoing green beans, but also further tests in compliance with Moak quality standards. In order to enhance its broad selection of blends, Moak has been committing itself for years in training barmen and professionals of the ho.re.ca sector. MPT (Moak People Training), the department dedicated to training, boasts equipped rooms where professionals of the sector are trained by Ast trainers (Authorized Sca Trainer) and WFA (World Flair Association) on how to prepare an excellent drink and how to manage one's coffee shop at best. A central role of the strategy of expansion also has to be attributed to the attention to image and communication. In 2009, alongside the launch of the new Corporate Identity designed by Bob Noorda, moak was set up: an in-house advertising agency that experiences the company directly, assimilating its pieces of information and turning them into strategies. Besides paying attention to quality and design, the company also invested in environmental sustainability. In 2010, Moak obtained the Fairtrade certification - hallmark of fair-trading and organic coffee production acknowledged by Ecogruppo Italia. Added to this is the Eco Green certification, which certifies that all energy use id sourced 100% from renewable energy sources. Moak's success in Italy and abroad is also acknowledged by "Capital 30", the golden book of Italian entrepreneurship that awards ninety businessmen, who marked the success of made in Italy. The Holding joined also Elite, the Italian Stock Exchange international program of " Borsa Italiana" and won the "Imprese Vincenti" award made in Italy business model which determined the regional increase in terms of production, economy and employment.
