Mirin is a Japanese name. Can be called cooking wine. Because it has almost the same function as cooking wine. Usually there are Honmirin and Mirinfu. It is an indispensable seasoning in Japanese cuisine. Its raw materials are glutinous rice koji and shochu.
Mirin has a low alcohol content and is often available in the liquor department of supermarkets and specialty liquor and spirits stores. This is true even of the two ritual versions of mirin used to celebrate the New Year, hon and shin. Because of the strong sweetness, adding a small amount of mirin to recipes works wonderfully.
While mirin is still primarily an addition to native Japanese dishes, more and more people are choosing to use mirin in other dishes as recipes as well. Japanese sweet mirin became a more common item in kitchens around the world.
Using mirin as a topping to coat or cover a sauce helps enhance the dish.
